A recent study found out that 4% of people in the United States sentenced to death are actually innocent. Researchers called this a "conservative estimate." 


From 1973 to 2004 7,482 people were sentenced to death in the United States. However the researchers found out that about 317 were innocent and would have been cleared of charges.
